At NexTech High School, blended learning combines the best parts of online and in-person education. Our students attend some courses in person with other students, while participating in other courses online led by certified virtual teachers, a perk not found in other blended learning schools.
The only “typical” thing about a day at NexTech High School is that it’s customized to each student’s individual personalized learning needs, whether on-campus or studying online.
Our students choose a morning or afternoon session at their campus four days a week: Monday–Thursday for the afternoon session, and Tuesday–Friday for the morning session, with extra time on campus for those who need or want it. NexTech High School students also spend approximately fourteen hours a week away from campus completing interactive online lessons with support and instruction from a virtual teacher. Each session is four hours per day with start and end times varying by campus. Morning sessions usually start between 8-8:30 a.m. and afternoon sessions between 12-12:30 p.m.
Whether they choose morning or afternoon sessions on campus, our students spend a portion of their day with an advisory period dedicated to collaborative activities and college skill-building work with their advisor/coach. Small-group classes with their English and math teachers, who focus on each student’s needs in mastering the curriculum, make up the remainder of their day on campus.
